The publication date for the first story on Cowls and Capes is pushed back to September 15, 2012, to allow more time for word to get out and give writers more time to submit quality work.  The original date of August 18 was unrealistic.  Over-reaching is not the worst thing in the world.

In the meantime, Capes and Cowls will start promoting charities and heroes this week.  Some other things may be in store between now and the launch of the first story.

Caped Superhero

The inspiration…

Cowls and Capes is a journal of original superhero fiction, produced for the love of the genre.  From the mystery men of old, dark and gritty street-level heroes patrolling the urban blight, to gods-among-men, realistic settings or four-colored, Cowls and Capes loves it all.  Stories are published once a week on Saturdays, much like the superhero serials of eras long past, beginning August 18, 2012, September 15, 2012.

Cowls and Capes is seeking submissions.  If you are a writer and would like to contribute, please read our guidelines.

…to change the world.

But great, original superhero fiction is not Cowls and Capes only interest.  The world is in need of heroes. While caped crusaders and men of steel may not exist outside of comic books and movies, we can look to superheroes as an ideal.  Something to aspire to.  Something to inspire us.

Cape & Geek, kid version

We can be the heroes the world needs.

Along with original superhero fiction, every week Cowls and Capes will feature a charity, person, organization or activity that is helping make the world a better place — examples of everyday heroes.  Inspiration for you to be a hero too.  You don’t need a cape or powers, only the will and compassion to do something.

Anything and everything counts, grand or tiny, extraordinary or mundane.  We can leave the world better than how we found it.

If you have questions or would like to see a person or organization feature, send an email to CowlsandCapes AT gmail.com.  And we want to hear from you, what you’ve done to help change the world.  Give a homeless man a sandwich?  Donate a million dollars to a charity?  Just a dollar?  Tell us about it!
